A Note About Our Latest Sponsor

Posted by Tim / February 15, 2007

It's amazing to think that Midnight Poutine has been around for almost a year and a half. It was around Pop Montreal in 2005 when this site first said hello to the world.

During this time MP has always been an advertising supported site. We haven't really *had* much revenue but we've always looked forward to the day that advertising might help cover our costs, pay for drinks at our meetings or even compensate our contributors a little bit for their efforts. If we make any serious dough our plan is to buy a blimp.

With that in mind, you might have noticed this morning that we have a new advertiser, MINI, who have just launched their new models for the Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S. They're fans of Midnight Poutine and approached us a while ago about doing something a little bit beyond the usual on the site. The product of our discussions is what you see today.

Inevitably, we expect some of you will think this is pretty cool and others maybe not so much. Please know that what we have tried to do with the latest sponsorship is not negatively impact your experience on the site. You won't see any of those annoying ads that float over the page or otherwise prevent you from getting to the content you came here to read.

Maybe we succeeded. Maybe we didn't. The sponsorship as it appears today will only look like this for a short time period. If you have any feedback, feel free to let us know

Hello,

Well I cant blame you for advertising because you always have but this background really takes away from the experience of reading the site. I mean, its a REPEAT bacground, without any seeming continuity. Its the logo all over the place. It looks like a webpage in 1995. Frankly, its a bit annoying!

How about a little logo in the banner! IT would constantly be there, be visible, but unobstrusive!

Anyhow, I love the site. But this bakground: no good.

Thanks for the feedback. We're working on fixing the background so it's not as jarring.

Just wanted to let you know that we have now updated the background image with something that is less jarring.

I'm really enjoying the design and layout of your blog. It's a
very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often.
Did you hire out a designer to create your theme?
Outstanding work!

Do you write these articles yourself, or do you outsource them?
They're very great and I would love to see some of your other work. Do you have any other blogs or sites that I can visit?
