Les Constellations Dynamiques

Sometimes too much of a good thing is a very good thing, and if last Thursday wasn't the last night of Johnny Ranger and Mindroots' "Les Constellations Dynamiques" at l'Usine C, I would be urging everyone to check it out. Unfortunately I'm too late, and in my defense all I can say is that I didn't know what I was walking into on Thursday.
"Les Constellations Dynamiques" is/was an incredible interdisciplinary performance piece, overwhelming your senses with video, sound, live music, spoken word, modern dance, and stunning set design. A version of it was performed with rave reviews in 2005 at the SAT, and in 2007 it left my mouth wide open. At any given moment, between Luciane Pinto's dance performance, Moment Factory's video environment, and the wealth of rich symbolism imbued throughout, it was hard to know what to focus on. At it's heart it seems to represent a blending of opposites; it mixes the spiritual with the statistical, the organic with the digital, and for the simple sake of digestion I would love to have the chance to see this piece again.
I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for future productions involving Johnny Ranger, Mindroots, and Moment Factory. In addition, from the look of their upcoming program, it looks like I'll be seeking to see more performances at l'Usine C.
