Good Times, Girl Times

20090730-allgirl.jpgWhat is it with feminists and karaoke? In order to further my research on this important topic, I plan on heading down to the Cagibi this Saturday around 9ish for an evening of musical reclamation at the All Girl Summer Fun Fest.

20090730-allgirlsummer.jpgI don't want to give away all the surprises of the evening, but in addition to some interesting rumors about wigs, the evening will feature a variety of interpretations of songs written by men but made famous by women. The karaoke inspired linup will include performances by Melisha Mclellan, Alex Achtem, Claire Dumoulin, Marie-Hélène Beaudry, Julia Thomas, Emma-Kate Guimond, Patricia Ciccone, Eulalie Gagné, Mélissa Gagné, Florence S. Larose and Myriam Jacob-Allard. The exact nature of each performance remains mysterious, but don't expect 'Karaoke' to be interpreted too literally as the backgrounds of the performers range from spoken word to visual art to music and theatre.

Just to be clear (in case the karaoke aspect didn't give it away): this is the warm and fuzzy, boys welcome type of feminist performance. Additionally, audience members are encouraged to bring their own 'girly mixtapes'.

The evening is presented in collaboration with La Centrale and organized by Florence S. Larose and Myriam Jacob-Allard, admission by donation. I'm going to show my support for all the great girls involved. And because of the wigs.

Taking karaoke to the next level, like it. One would hope "Nothing Compares 2 U" would feature - written by Prince, made famous by Sinead...

No matter if some one searches for his required thing, thus he/she wants to be available that in detail,
so that thing is maintained over here.
