TTC Roulette? What the Eff?

Posted by Jer / August 27, 2006

Now look. I don't want to cry foul here. Come to think of it, I'm not really sure how to go about crying foul even if I had something to cry foul about. For all I know, the expression could be crying fowl.

My point is that there is something serious going on that I figured loyal midnight poutine readers should know about. A recent post on CBC radio 3's blog alerted me to the fact the MP's brilliant metro roulette idea has been swiped by some other chump ass website.

A blogger/photographer at the site made it his summer project to visit and photograph every TTC stop in Toronto. The interview at CBC states the following:

"At the beginning of the summer I decided, kind of on a whim, that I really wanted to go to all the TTC stations. I don't think I'm the greatest photographer, but I love my camera and thought that bringing it along for the adventure might be cool."

The above excerpt seems to omit the following: "At the beginning of the summer, I was reading midnight poutine and, dry for ideas, I found this crazy wicked section called Metro-roulette and decided to do the exact same thing".

Now of course, dear readers, I jest. There's no way we here at MP own the idea of talking about metro stations (or public washrooms, or coffee shops). But, it's been a relatively slow week so far and I thought maybe we could start some kind of blog war with this other site.

They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery. But they also say Revenge, thy name is intellectual property suit.

And while you're at, damn these New Yorkers who managed to visit all <a href="";>468 NYC subway stations</a> in 25 hours. ;)

Oh Technorati search! What results you turn up!

I don't want to fight with Montreal. You guys are already <a href="";>better than us now</a>, anyway. Can't we have anything, Montreal? You've already stolen our pride. :(

(PS, a lot of other folks have covered the TTC in some way or another - blogged, videotaped, and photographed - before. I'm doing a summary write-up of the project and I'm going to credit everyone I can find who's done it before me; when I first started, I figured that at least one person must've before me.)

PFFFFT. What do you expect from a chain blog? Orginality?

To be honest, I'd be cool letting the Torontoist copy my <b>brillant</b> post ideas. G'head, steal 'em, I got a MA-JILLION more. Ahem, cough.
