Springtime Slushwads for Everyone!!

oh cripes.

I don't know whether I've just got a short memory re: weather in April in Montreal, or whether I really do have a right to be as miserable/surprised/wet&cold as I am right now.

I tried to go out just now and be social/cultural, I'm telling you. But all the slipping around and ice/snow falling in my EYES and my feet sinking into slush puddles and therefore me running late, well, it all became too much for me. For the first time this winter: I had to turn back.

I mean, also, guys, A SLUSHWAD FELL OFF A TREE AND DOWN MY NECK.
ugh.
cold cold neck. wet wet scarf. and worse, yesterday I was riding my bike across town all la-de-da, thinking I was free from the cold, wet grasp of winter storms and public transit and these winter boots I used to love but am so tired of now that I've, honestly, put them in the closet three times (!) in the past month. Hopes, dashed.

Yeah. I seriously have not talked enough about the weather in 2007. I would like to make up for that with this rant and these scenic photos, which I took after I made the calming and comforting decision to return to my warm home, eat adzuki beans, and watch yesterday's episode of Lost. It is, like, the only real decision I've made in weeks.

But it is a good decision. And I swear, when spring actually happens, things'll turn around, lovelight's gonna shine, I'm gonna make it after all, etc, etc. But until then I will get my sunshine from vitamins and sugar and refracted off the half-naked bodies of tv actors romping around mysterious tropical locales.

Yours in, I don't know, some kind of hope and committment to something that begins tomorrow for sure this time,
R

I cried when it started to snow. From my Pointe St. Charles vantage point you couldn't see the city. It was gone.

I saw a majorly huge slushwad whack the roof of a car heading east along Sherbrooke when I was walking home from work. The driver looked so pissed, like he was under some kind of road rage attack. I think he may have actually terminated the call has was making on his cell phone because of it. It was great!

But as a pedestrian what I really want to know is: Why do all the slushwads fall right exactly at crosswalk intersections and then somehow become the perfect camouflage for wet glistening asphalt?

there are certain questions we will never know the answers to. weather and weather-related phenomena is a soft, maleable science and don't let any of these "meteorologists" with their fancy maps and made-up words tell you any different.

Yeah, it's snowing down here in New Hampshire, too. The hail kinda stings; it hit me in the ear. :(

I don't believe there's an entry for 'slushwad' in wikipedia yet. what do you say Robin? Now's your chance.

I proclaim it one of the best words I've ever heard.

I went out last night, and was amazed at how many people were out. The bar was packed. I hardly made it, as i almost got hit by a square metre of snow pack that fell off of the firehouse at laurier and saint-laurent.
