Nuit Blanche preview: Quartier des Spectacles et Centre-ville

This year, the Quartier des Spectacles has a ridiculous amount of events planned out for whoever is going to brave the Montreal cold and spend a night out. Here is a quick preview of some stuff to do during Nuit Blanche in the Quartier des Spectacles and downtown area. For more information, visit the Montreal All-Nighter website.

Music:
The Metropolis is putting together one hell of a show for this year's edition of the All-nighter. Come out and dance ’til you drop at one of the biggest free parties of the year! Performances by Band de Garage, Les Dales Hawerchuk, Vulgaires Machins, Payz Play, Numéro#, Ghislain Poirier and guest DJs.

The Saints Showbar, one of the coolest venues in town, is putting together an homage to the emerging Montreal music scene, with a ton of local bands and music that's going to make you dance 'till the wee hours of the morning. (18+)

Place-des-Arts presents Piano Nobile, where two up-and-coming hip hop talents serve up a potent mix of musical influences and playful rhythms that reflect the Québec of today. Gatineau takes the mike at midnight and 1:15 a.m.; Socalled steps up at 3 and 4:15 a.m.

Exhibitions:
This year, the Belgo has four exhibitions to offer your greedy eyes: Landscapes2 (Espace 306), a trip through large-format landscape paintings that synthesize experiences of world travel, Galerie [sas] (Espace 416), featuring photographs by Jocelyn Michel, and an installation by Sophie Juneau, the surrealist portraits of Galerie Trois Points (Espace 520) and Diego Piccini da Todi treatment of “anger” (Espace 523).

The MAC is also going all out. The Musée d'Art Contemporain presents a retrospective devoted to Claude Tousignant, a visionary in abstract art AND three major installations acquired over the past two years: Not I, Pas moi (2006-2007) by Christine Davis, Cuba Still (Remake) (2005) by Adad Hannah and Chameleon (2004) by Franz West.

hi chris, good to have you back (posting).maybe, as with the other restaurants that you reveiw you could have tried another "dish". i realise that since this is a mussels place it would also have been mussels, but maybe they do other decent sauces.can i also plug the big mussel in newcastle. a dedicated mussels place that has been open for years. really good quality too.also, how much roughly were the beers. i had a belgian kwak in oxford recently for 5/bottle! expensive, but belgian beer is lovely.
