Anyone Awake?

The 7th annual Nuit Blanche came to an end some time near sunrise this morning. I wasn't among the living to see it, but I did have some persistent dreams about my favourite find this year: Griffintown: Developing Culture on St. Ann below Ottawa Street. The above building may not look special from the outside, but the interior is incredible: a mix of narrow locales and what can only be described as a large barn space on the top floor. While the artists present were certainly impressive, I was cowed by the immensity of the space, and the sad fact that this may be a future victim of the Griffintown 'renewal'. I urge everyone to check it out before it becomes a distant memory.

For those of you who have managed to crawl over to your table tops or laptops, please share your favourite Nuit Blanche 2010 experience by commenting below!

That looks like an incredible space. Do you know if they have shows/exhibits/etc. often?

I didn't go nuts on Nuit Blanche, but of the handful things I checked out, the Mile End guitar shop was pretty sick. Non-stop bluegrass jamming.

What an incredible event, what an amazing community. I learned so much. I'm amazed and overwhelmed and grateful to have been part of it all.

Thanks for a great Nuit blanche everyone!
FYI... Griffintown Remembered was a September 2008 event organized by a group from Concordia University while last night's event, Griffintown: Developing Culture/Griffintown: Développement culturel, was organized by the local community.

Judith: Thanks for the correction, I've made the edit.
Greg: I was thinking the same thing. I'd love to see a band play there, though I'm unsure as what the allowed capacity would be before the floors would give way.

So sad to have missed out on the silent disco... how did it turn out?

More like Nuit Blur. Oh boy!
I managed to get to the giant orb near the Contemporary Museum, showing 'The Future,' or something like that. I think I was devoured by a projected, bioluminescent fish at some point. It was a good evening, all in all.

The exhibit on life-size dolls romances at the Belgo Building was vivid.

As a Montreal author, I've been foinlwlog this story for years. In fact, I've just had a novel published in the US inspired by the Horse Palace. Entitled simply HORSE , it's a true story of Montreal, an easy yet emotional read for all ages and now available on Amazon in digital or print format. I'll be offering a percentage of the proceeds to this foundation. For more information, please feel free to contact me or visit my website.

You are so cool! I don't believe I have read through a single thing like that before.
So good to find someone with original thoughts on this issue.
Seriously.. thank you for starting this up.
This website is one thing that is required on the internet, someone with a bit of originality!
