The best Canadian cities

Posted by MP / July 28, 2010

Best canadian citiesThe best Canadian cities have been battling it out all month on our Facebook Group. The contest comes to a close at midnight tonight but it's not too late to vote or score a prize like an Xbox or a new Nokia N97 Mini.

If the current standings hold up Montreal will shockingly come in second place. At least we're ahead of Vancouver. But with just over 12 hours to go in the contest, there's still a chance to impact the voting. There are a number of close categories where Montreal has a very real chance of overcoming the current front-runners in Toronto and Vancouver. Here's a look at some of them as well as highlights of the results so far.

CATEGORIES MONTREAL SHOULD BE WINNING BUT ISN'T

  • Architecture Monstrosity - The Orange Julep
  • Bakery - Cheskie's
  • Bar - Le Pistol
  • Bookstore - Drawn and Quarterly
  • Boutique Hotel - Le Germain
  • Brunch - L'Avenue
  • Comic - Jon Lajoie
  • Diner - Beauty's It Neighbourhood - Mile End
  • Live Music Venue - La Sala Rossa
  • Music Festival - Pop Montreal
  • Neighbourhood - Plateau
  • Patron Saint - Leonard Cohen
  • Superstar - Celine Dion

  • Bagel - St. Viateur
  • Band - Arcade Fire
  • BBQ Chicken - Romados
  • Bike Organization - Bixi
  • Billionaire - Guy LaLiberté

So now that the contest has come to an end and that Montreal has finished second, I see that I am supposed to have win a Nokia N97 Mini (I'm the one with the more points in MTL). But still, I didn't receive any notifications confirming that I was the winner, and the contest ended on July 28 !! I tried to call Nokia but they said I had to contact Midnight Poutine...What do I have to do now to claim my prize?? I want it!
