The Week Without Poutine - October 21
Oh man, who's stoked for the Zombie walk tomorrow? It's a great time of year to be in Montreal with loads of events taking place before Winter hits and Halloween bringing out the usual bafoonery. Be sure to check MP early next week for my annual Top 10 Halloween Costume Suggestions (Check out 2009 and 2010, in case you missed them).
Here's what you missed this week in the blogosphere since you were too busy reading Midnight Poutine and Occupying Sesame Street:
The CBC/Quebecor misinformation war - Fagstein
The CBC vs Quebecor war has quite a bit of history, and to fully comprehend it you need to know enough about how the Canadian Television industry operates, and more particularly, how it functions in Quebec vs other provinces. Fagstein breaks it down for us.
A walkman in a world of iPods - Your Kloset
I'm sure a few of you saw the video circulating online of a toddler trying to use a magazine like its an iPad this past week. Chantal from Your Kloset gives us her personal feelings on the clip, but fails to point out that the toddler also tries to use her own leg as an iPad (video is in the article).
Things to do Weekend of October 21,22,23 - Montreal On The Cheap
Everyone should read this website. Their daily updates for everything that is a) awesome and b) cheap in Montreal is unmatched. If you want to make the most of the fall weather this weekend and need some fresh ideas, check out their weekend round up post.
Montage du jour: Intersection des rues Beaudry et Bonaparte - Spacing Montreal
I love these little montages done by Spacing on an almost daily basis. This one in particular is hilarious because the two photos don't even look like the same city, never mind the same intersection.
NON MONTREAL BLOGS
One eyed Cyclops Shark - Geekologie
Oh man, as it turns out this is not a fake and actually really terrifying. If you haven't heard yet, they found a dead shark fetus that is literally a cyclops. You bet that's going high up on the Top 10 Halloween costumes list!
Lytro: A closer look at the first focus camera - Mashable
This is the kind of device that will change modern photography forever. It allows you to shoot first and focus later, hence removing any kind of focus work you would need to do. As in...this could be as big an advance and time saver as digital was over analog.
Again, I am quite desperate for some new blogs to read, so if you know of any local Montreal blogs that are awesome and obscure, send them my way at firstname.lastname@example.org
