Bend, Twist and Stretch your Mind at the Yoga Festival Montreal
The 1st annual Yoga Festival Montreal, taking place June 8, 9 & 10, is going to be three days of poses, music, relaxation, whole foods, philosophy and politics. Whether you're a contortionist, a healthy food-lover, an academic, a yoga beginner, or an obsessive drishti-er, there's something for you at the fest.
The festival is being put on by Montreal grassroots initiative Yocomo (Yoga Community Montreal / Yoga Communauté Montréal). Participants can buy passes for the whole weekend, a single day, or a single workshop, making it accessible. And there are opportunities to volunteer (aka free, with a little extra effort and a little less choice).
The purpose of the festival:
To shine a light on the people in the yoga community who quietly and steadily share their passion - the gems of the everyday yoga community - and to bring the joy of yoga to Montrealers"
The organizers:
Montreal yoga pillars (a lot stronger than my tree pose) Nadia Stevens, massage and yoga therapist Jordan Nardone, Miranda Chapman (former owner of Ahimsa Yoga), Roseanne Harvey of blog "It's All Yoga Baby", and Anne-Lisa de Forest.
Recommendations from the weekend's schedule:
Saturday: Yoga Nidra and the Depths of Consciousness with Jamie Lee
Acroyoga with Costa Koutrokois
Yoga and Activism with Allison Ulan of Ashtanga Montreal
Sunday things heat up with: Moksha Fest with Claudine Messier and Crew
Sex and Yoga with Lauren Rudick
But with 4 workshops to choose from in multiple morning and afternoon sessions, plus dance parties and musical opening and closing ceremonies, it's covering all its bases.
