43% Of Your Daily Recommended Intake of Evil.

Posted by MP / February 27, 2006

I believe it was Cicero who first said that "the function of wisdom is to discriminate between good and evil". I believe it, because it says so right here. So get off my case. The Internet never lies.

Anyway. If Cicero were alive today, in addition to having a cool name and being freakin' old, I'm pretty sure he'd agree that this 'wisdom' crap is a total pipedream. Too. much. work. Who has time for wisdom when there's Dancing With The Stars? When Tyra Banks has a talk show? When there are ridiculously awesome...nay, just ridiculous podcasts to listen to [license for self-promotion obtained here]? Who indeed.

So, the question is, in these wise-lite times, who are we to turn to for help? To distinguish between the good & evil in our world - and in ourselves? Or at least our websites? I'll tell you who: The Gematriculator.

The Gematriculator is a service that uses the infallible methods of Gematria developed by Mr. Ivan Panin to determine how good or evil a web site or a text passage is.

This thing has been around for a while, but I'm not sure that it'd taken a crack at unravelling the delicious mess of evil goodness that is Midnight Poutine until now.

Verdict: For today, at least, Midnight Poutine is 43% evil and 57% good. Thing is, two days ago it said we were 26% evil and 74% good. Which either means that there's been great evil afoot at MP in the last two days...or that there's a reason that the esteemed Ivan Panin is a Mr. instead of a Dr. Personally, the current read sounds like just the right mix. Sure, we want the good guys to win - but it ain't interesting without a fight.

Ain't that right, Tyra?

[Editor's Note: I've decided to file all stories without clear category affiliations under Sex. While Cicero has little to say on that decision, I'm sure Freud would have a field day with it...
