Marche Smart Design Mart Review
There was a great curated showcase of local talent this past weekend, where you were able to buy Christmas and Chanukah gifts for yourself, friends and family. Marche Smart Design Mart offered up a smogasbord of artist and designer goods for sale. From household furniture to beauty products, clothes, knicknacks, art and food, people shopped to the beat of their favorite music and a live art installation.
Below is a list of my top Smart Mart fashion and beauty products picks from this weekend. If you're interested in any of these, follow the link to buy directly from the artisan online. Here are my picks in no particular order:
Elisa C-Rossow: A Parisien transplant, Elisa now calls Montreal home. Using Twiggy, Bewitched, Bridgette Bardot, Polly Magoo and herself as inspiration for her F/W 2013 collection, Elisa creates clothes for strong, elegant women.
Norwegian Wood: Perennial favorite Norwegian Wood had her usual assortment of covetable clothes plus some fresh off the loom hats, toques and air trappers.
Amanda Moss: New kid on the block Amanda Moss is making waves with her newly launched clothing company. Her perfect party and everyday dresses are made from silk and other natural fibres.
KazakMtl: Recycled fur and leather are at the heart this eco-responsible designer's clothing and accessories.
Eugenie Bee Jewelry: If you're looking for Game of Thrones inspired headpieces and jewelry, the Eugenie Bee booth was the place to be.
Galtani: Biker gloves for those who care about comfort and looking good while biking. Combining cotton mesh with leather, Gary Vickers has designed the sexiest pair of biking gloves I've seen in a long time.
The Stowe: Drool worthy handcrafted leather bags to lug your stuff around in. If bags and purses aren't your thing, they also make a stylish and practical beer can holder for the hops lover in your life.
Carriage 44: Handmade soap, shea butter and candles that are made from the high quality, natural ingredients. Need more reasons to try them? They're also free from animal products, glycerin and palm oil.
Les Produits Genevieve: Afforable luxury is the name of Genvieve's game. Perfect for some stocking stuffers and little treats for yourself.
Dot & Lil: Mixing up a perfect combination of vintage and modern, Anne Dardick makes all natural skincare that's guaranteed water free. What does this mean? Simply that, unlike most commercial brands, her products will never be watered down.
Marche Smart Design Mart was held at 5505 Casgrain this past weekend, December 7th and 8th.
