FILM CLUB: Pee-Wee's Big Adventure@Boa 9/10

Posted by Omar / October 9, 2006

Fellow club goers, I sincerely apologize. I know this post qualifies as super late notice, but what can I say...I blame thanksgiving weekend, I blame it on Pop Montreal, I blame it on Film Pop, I blame it on my new job that had me working through the weekend, I blame it on chronic fatigue syndrome, but mostly I just blame it on Rio!

So apologies for the last minute notice, but there will be a screening at Boa Taverne Modern (5301 St. Laurent) tonight of the classic Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. It kicks off a gothic, demented, macabre month for Film Club. Other highlights this month will include: After Hours, Repulsion, and Dawn of the Dead (the original for chrissakes).

As for Pee-Wee, what can I say? This is clearly the best Tim Burton film yet. It's funny, fucked-up and full of quotable lines. "Is there something you'd like to share with the rest of us, Amazing Larry?"

Alas, due to many reasons (see above), the screening tonight will take place without yours truly, but as always - the admission is free. Beer and Popcorn is available. And the screening will start around 9pm.

And to all film distributors and studio heads who frequently scan Midnight Poutine, I have only one thing to say "I know you are but what am I, I know you are but what am I, I know you are..."
