Festival du Nouveau Cinema

I think the words 'red carpet' would have to be my two favourite words together in the English language. I can only base this on the fact that separately neither word interests me in the least, but together they just evoke complete excitement! Some people are less superficial and are more interested in the event behind the red carpet, the affair the actually requires one, but I find this more or less irrelevant. Am I kidding? Maybe. Kidding is essentially joking without being funny. So maybe.

In any case, tomorrow marks the red carpet opening of Montreal's 36th Festival du Nouveau Cinema. The opening will feature the premiere of Guillaume Sylvestre's Durs A Cuire, a behind the scenes look at two of Canada's most prestigious restaurants, and "the pioneers of a Quebec culinary tradition and true ambassadors of Quebec culture". Sometimes I think I should just write a date idea column for Midnight Poutine, because I clearly think of ideas to save everyone's ass.

The rest of the festival looks just as promising, besides that it's ranked number one amongst Canada's international film festivals, there is a lot of good content and variety this year. The above picture is actually a delightful international film (Nadine Labaki's Caramel) featuring a romantic affair between a meddlesome police officer and a stunning hairdresser.
