Romanian Film Festival

Posted by Melanie / October 29, 2007

A rising appreciation for Romanian cinema has inspired Cinema du Parc to host a film festival in recognition of it. Beginning tomorrow and running until the 8th, it will be an event that the mayor of Montreal has referred to as reflective of "the cosmopolitan nature of the city's population and reinforces Montreal as a city festival and cultural metropolis." I don't really know anyone that doesn't enjoy film festivals, but there's something about the mayor acknowledging the wonderfulness of it that makes it more satisfying.

There will be a collection of short films, as well as films from Nicolae Margineanu,Hanno Höffer and Corneliu Porumboiu to name a few. It has been suggested that Romanian films are the current innovators for future cinema, so it will be interesting to see their new perspectives and advancement.
