Reel Forecast: RVCQ 2010 debuts films festival season, fills repertory houses

Films and a festival for FRIDAY FEB 19 through THURSDAY FEB 25.

Les Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois is a yearly round-up of the best feature-length, short and documentary works from le belle province of the past year. While the opening and closing films are usually premieres, the rest of the pickings have been screened in previous festivals, or are already on DVD. Regardless, the festival is where you can find all the finest films from Québec condensed in a ten-day period (RVCQ'10 runs until February 27th) and on the big screen. These include recent hits such as J'ai tué ma mère, La Donation, 1981, Carcasses, Dédé à travers les brumes, and more. It all takes part across various venues, so don't expect too much more in terms of non-RVCQ screenings.
