On Company Time #8: Guitar Gods & Ninjas.ur

Posted by Dave / April 27, 2006

skid03.jpgI recently decided to finally fix my guitar. Of course, the problem is with the guitar, not my ability to play…….why are you laughing? Jerk! Anyway, the thing that had been holding me back was getting two small parts for it. Sure, I can afford it, but it would require going to a guitar store. I HATE guitar stores. The stereotypes are true. They’re full of has-been musicians that only want to look down on you and have a reason to play some terrible riff on a guitar for you.

Then it occurred to me,.. Ebay! I hadn’t bought anything on Ebay for a good 4 years. Sure, I went through that initial phase everyone goes through, buying lots of stuff I didn’t need, but it quickly wore off.

So, as usual, I went to work, started surfing and quickly found what I was looking for. I had forgotten how easy it was not only to find what you want, but to complete the whole transaction through PayPal. The only problem is, now I am spending too much of my day on Ebay. Oh well…

…so then I went back onto YouTube. It seems that YouTube is not just for brainless blooper reels and obscure indie rock videos any more. People have started to use it to get a message out. Check out the Revolutionary Entertainment video here (Note: these are decidedly un-work-appropriate—make sure your boss is on a 2-hour lunch first):

Now that your in the nostalgia frame of mind, why not spend the afternoon at work re-examining your Friendster profile!?! Here’s the update, you’re still as Popular/Unpopular as you were before, but you get to find out through a slightly more up to date interface. 2 minutes later you remember why you stopped going on Friendster.

….what to do….still a couple of hours left in the work day…..oh crap….Ninjas!

Now, back to work, and I thank you from the heart of my bottom for your time.
