Of books, blurbs and blogs
I know that I am breaking some blog-code that I do not understand by just throwing this out here.
I know that, for example, if I were John Mac I would not even think about messing around with CBC, McSweeney's and Dave Eggers without providing a bit of context. But I don't have that information or the time to find it.
Here's my friend's take: "McSweeney's is an interesting internet bastion of hip because it is fiendishly inbred, and so incredibly elitist."
So, Dave Eggers: Ridiculously hyperbolic PR dude or far-out postmodern stunt artist? I think I may have just mispelled his name--someone please check.

Man, I always forget how good the CBC arts site is. Uh, I definitely have a special place in my heart for McSweeney's, but I'm not a huge fan of Eggers as a writer. And it's totally elitist.
I wonder if this is just his way of pushing the limits. Sort of a let's see what I can get away with with now that I have fame and fans' gushing adoration.
i like the idea of eggers' blurbs having a "bizarre narrative" of their own. the story of a man completely losing his mind because of his sheer brilliance/solipsism as told through his blurbs for books from, say, "american pastoral" through "the da vinci code"? that, i'd read.
