This Week in Blogs!

Posted by Scott / January 17, 2007

keys-tiny-2.jpgThis week in blogs - Midnight Poutine's weekly slurp-up of the local blogs. Every week we troll around and note what catches our eye from the local blogsphere. If you have suggestions about places to look, leave a comment.

On the political side of things, Stuff I Think About has posted their perspective on the double-hanging in Iraq and the US planned Surge - which still sounds like an SUV to me. The hanging event is also touched on by Blogue North who include a very interesting exchange between Wolf "Porn Name" Blitzer and the NY Times' John Burns.

Both of these blogs seem disgusted by the "botched hanging" and seem to want the new Iraqi government to meet some sort of higher standard - one, I guess, supposedly exemplified by Western democracy. Cuz, you know, Western democracies get it right all the time.

Since we can't talk about Montreal blogs without talking about food, I point out Endless Banquet's death-to-vegans shopping spree image (Dudes! Seriously!) and mention that J Gallagher is looking for dinner invitations.

In keeping with last week's skateboarding theme, Sunday's post on MTLWeblog links to a piece in the Gazette highlighting the growing debate around the (terribly named) Taz Mahal skatepark slated to be build in 2009, and a pretty good overview of the skatepark situation in Montreal in general. However, I'm an ex-skater (read: longboard age), so if this piece from the Gazette sucks bawwwwls, please take a second to comment below and fill in the blanks for our readers.

Finally, unrelated, but worth thinking about: Stevey.com talking about black bears. I have my own history with them, I cheer for them and if I could, I'd get them into government.

See you next week! Again, if there's a local blog you think we should be checking out, let us know.

My old friend "johny bastard" got stabbed in the leg (botched mugging) in that parking lot while walking home loaded one night - he punched the guy and walked back to our place on st. urbain bleeding like hell.. ah ..found memories.

result set caching - all three types:a) serevr results cacheb) function results cachec) client side cacheare all at the table level.I don't see the real world use case you stated, can you make it more "real" for us, sounds very sketchy as you stated it. Sounds overly complex and fraught with potential "I didn't know it worked that way" issues down the road (eg: you are trying to be too tricky)

One of the problems with finding your Assiti Shards books to reread in the library is that some are classified under science fiction, others under fantasy, and others in regular fiction. Is there anyway that you could put the appropriate thing on title pages of future books to have them all in the same section?
