McGill Daily Journalism WeekCalling all aspiring journalists who like free things! The McGill Daily's got something special for you. For the second year the newspaper presents Journalism Week, a series of workshops, talks, and panel discussions, all with the intent of making you a better, more informed, and diverse journalist. Best part? You got it. It can all be yours cost-free.

J-week, as those in the know call it, begins this evening with the panel "Breaking into Journalism," an event that last year saw attendees crammed against the walls and huddled together on the floor. If you've been dying to bring your journalism career to the next level this, my friend, is the event for you. Learn how two writers and a freelance photographer made it big time.

If your week only allows time for one journalism event I'd hold out for Friday's "From the Printed Page to the Spoken Word" when famed host of CBC's Wiretap, Jonathan Goldstein, chats with two other radio gurus about their adventures on the wires. I imagine the evening will be both amusing and informative, plus, last I heard one of the guests is visiting via webcam. Oh, wonderful technology.

Wednesday The Daily editors invite all to see how they make their newspaper. Thursday is workshop day, and also the only French language event, "Percer dans le monde du journalisme."

All events are open to all, not just McGill students. For times, locations, and a complete schedule visit The Daily here and be sure to thank them for creating the J-school McGill never had.
