What Bono would do if he was still in Montreal

Posted by MP / December 2, 2005

bono_1.jpgWho chooses the name Bono, anyway? The lead singer and the rest of U2 were in Montreal last weekend to headline a two-night 80s flashback party (to the dismay of the audience, they played some of their more recent songs, too) and ride on the laurels of the local, more contemporary act, Arcade Fire. Bono sightings were frequent, though unconfirmed. Rumour has it he spent most of his free time at a local eye specialist, seeking treatment for a condition that requires him to wear ugly sunglasses at all times.

Anyway, if he was actually still in Montreal, and not pushing 50, Bono would probably do some of the things listed after the break.

General weekend stuff:

Salon des Métiers d'art (from Dec. 2nd through Dec. 21st) 11am -9pm daily, except 11am -6pm Sundays and Dec. 21st.

450 artisans will be peddling their wares, (although, I'm not sure if it's technically "peddling" since they are in booths). Glass, pottery, woodcraft, sculpture, weavings, bookbindng and more. Admission is free!

Le Noel des Chats

The Club félin de Montréal Inc. invites you to their 84th, 85th & 86th championship cat shows at Place Bonaventure, Montreal, Quebec Dec. 2nd, 1pm-6pm. Dec.3rd & 4th, 9am-5pm.

Adults: $11, Students 7 Seniors: $9 Children 6-12: $6

250 cats and kittens, 125 breeders/owners, information booths, continual show competitions on the podium, kitty-related gift kiosks, and, should you be feeling a little peaked, veterinarians on site.
For more info call (450) 430-3109.

It's sort of an uneventful weekend for music. Perhaps everyone is saving up their energy for the upcoming Gwen Stefani show at the Bell Centre. Those who can't wait will surely check out the closest thing in Montreal to Love Angel Music Baby, the World Provider, who plays Casa del Popolo.

The Dandy Warhols play the Spectrum. Are they still any good?

I'm lazy, so I quote:

"Alternatives and Santropol Roulant invite you to come and march with us Saturday, December 3rd as part of the world march for climate justice. The meeting spot is at 11:45 on the corner of Peel and DeMaisonneuve (Just outside Peel Metro) and will end up at Dorchester Square. Bring your posters, banners and costumes!

Bring your friends and family and COME MARCH FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE!!!"

Any time you can see coolest scientist in the world David Suzuki, greatest scratch DJ in the world Kid Koala, greatest radio-friendly francophone band les Cowboys Fringants and greatest former ska band in the world the Stills -- all in the same place, and also be doing something nominally helpful to the environment (face it, you'll just be sitting there drinking beer and producing carbon dioxide), it's probably a good idea to go. $40, at the Salle Pierre Mercure, 300 Maisonneuve E.

Males, in particular, should not be consuming soy protein in any significant amount, let alone twice a day every day as Visalus advises.

Sweet diet snack: sweet potato You may be watching your carbohydrate intake,
but my experience is that healthy carbohydrates help me stick to
a diet, feel better, think more clearly, and have the energy I need to exercise.
