Listen Up! - Starvin Hungry
Starvin Hungry's second album, Cold Burns, will definitely not leave anyone cold.
The true garage rock and roll tracks come right at you, back to back, all with the same power, energy, and with the same urge that will make you tap your feet and/or bang your head.
Let's be honest here - it is pretty hard for garage rock and roll bands to have their very own, particular "sound", but the punk influences and the very well known garage rock "formula" clearly works out well for Starvin Hungry.
John Milchem's talent is noticeable in the sharpness and "tightness" of every song, and the overall delivery is not too refined but not too low-fi either, thanks to the recorder and producer, both in well-established Montreal bands (Besnard Lakes and Bionic).
Maybe it's just about time for Starvin Hungry to get the same exposure..
Until then, seeing them live would be a good idea. (They apparently put on a VERY good show.)
