Osheaga Live Blogging (with loads more video!): A-B-CSS...

Posted by Paloma / August 4, 2008

The Black Keys at Osheaga

A wicked mid-afternoon to late evening rush here at Osheaga. The bloggers and I weaved our way through the park, catching loads more bands -- some so-so (MGMT), some pretty wicked (The Go! Team), and some frickin' fantastic (CSS!!)

The Weakerthans at Osheaga

The problem with one-hit wonders MGMT is that they leave their best song (Kids) for the end of the festival set. The rest of their album was hit and miss, but overall they got the crowd at the MEG stage moving.

At the end of MGMT's set, I dashed over to a wild Gogol Bordello finale, but I didn't catch enough of it to give you a proper report. I'll leave that to Jenny, who reconnected with her Slavic roots at what (from afar!) looked like a circus set.

Then back to MEG stage for the Go! Team's 70's dance pop. Quite the dance party got going over there, with blown up condoms and other inflatable objects floating through the air.

Broken Social Scene's 82 members, with Amy Millan, played their best of. Things got a little romantic at that point, with couples swaying and macking to the mood music. Videos to follow!

Alphabetically after BSS, we had CSS! Jenny can attest to me "getting my groove on." I need to visit Brazil because those crazy rockers know how to put on a show. I would have captured some video but I don't think my laptop could have survived a crowd surf.

Right now Jack Johnson is serenading me ... gonna head back to MEG to catch Chromeo, and then some zzz's! I'm outta here, but you'll get a full report from the other Osheaga poutiners when the sun rises.

Dancing in front of the stage during Go Team's set was definitely the highlight of the festival for me.

I love the fact that I was sitting right next to you on that dirty patch of run-down grass when you typed this, yet it still cracks me up as I am re-reading it now. Great post, my dear. And definitely good times. :)

Did Emily Haines sing with BSS, or was Amy the lone female?

No, Emily did not play with BSS. I wonder if she was even there -- Metric played the Sunday.
