CONTEST - Win Tix to see Mercury Rev

Cult-favourites Mercury Rev roll into town on Monday for a show at Cabaret Du Musée. They're in the midst of promoting their latest mood-rock epic Snowflake Midnight. After over 20 years of making music, the band doesn't seem to be content just to fade out into the archives of aging rockers. Not only is the new album one of their strongest since 1998's Deserter's Songs, their latest effort comes with a free (and decent) companion album called Strange Attractor that you can download from their site.

Thanks to the kind folks putting on the show, we here at Midnight Poutine have two pairs of tickets to give away. All you have to do is humour us with a little interstellar creativity. More details after the jump.

Winning the tickets is easy. Just post a comment below. We're asking, as we often do, that you come up with a funny/creative/poignant band name based on the template provided by Mercury Rev. Take the name of a planet (or the name of an element from the periodic table, if you prefer that kind of Mercury) and combine it with a catchy abbreviation (e.g. Pluto Capt.) The two most entertaining answers will get themselves a pair of tickets to see Mercury Rev in action. They will also retain the rights to the band name they com up with and can launch a rockstar career of their own.*

Contest Closes on Sunday Dec. 7 at noon.

Mercury Rev with Dean & Britta
Mon. Dec. 8
Cabaret Du Musée
20h30

* Midnight Poutine is not responsible for providing gear, groupies, or other accoutrements that come with being famous rockstars

Titanium 22 (industrial metal )

Titanium s a lustrous, white metal when pure. Titanium minerals are quite common. The metal has a low density, good strength, is easily fabricated, and has excellent corrosion resistance. The metal burns in air and is the only element that burns in nitrogen. It is marvellous in fireworks.

Wow. Thank you loyal readers. You never cease to amaze us with your wit and creativity. You found planets I didn't even know existed and abbreviations that made me wish we always talked in short form.

It was a tough call but after hours of deliberation, I can officially announce our two winners:

Nick with Titanium Tux
and
MK with Jupiter Gtr

Honorable mentions to Vince, Pip and Cyril's cheesy but delicious Mars Bar. If I could give you all prizes, I would. But I can't. Well, at least not until the next contest.

Stay tuned. And thanks again.
