As announced on this week's Midnight Poutine podcast, we're honoured to share with you a delectable set of audio documentaries about local Montreal musicians. In Their Own Words: the Montreal sessions is a ten part artist profile series, a collage of first person narrative and music that provides in-depth insights into the machinations of groups like Plants and Animals, The National Parcs, Creature, and other local secrets. A time capsule of sorts, each profile documents the history and evolution of a different band.
Local producer/awesome guy Martin Simon Greizis was kind enough to let MP run his series during the next few episodes of the podcast. So if you're not already a subscriber to the show, there's no better time to find out what you've been missing.
More details and a list of all the bands featured after the jump:
Conducted over an eight month period, more than 30 hours of interviews were collected. The goal of the series is to go beyond the elementary meet and greet interview and provide a broader prospective than the majority of band interviews out there. Musicians share their experience and aspirations; reflect on the challenges, sacrifices and rewards of pursing an artistic vision. They discuss the muse like inspiration of the creative process but also the nuts and bolts reality of developing a sound and voice. This series is sort of how to for the aspirating artist in all of us.
The series, which starts during next week's podcast, will run for the next ten weeks. It features:
Acrobat
Creature
Elfin Saddle
FSK 1138
Giselle Numba One
gMackrr
Panacea
Plants and Animals
The National Parcs
