Looking for something to do ce soir? Flotilla with Courtney Wing at O Patro Vys

Posted by Amelia / June 6, 2009

Fans of Montreal-based band Flotilla have been looking forward to a new album from the group for a while. But it was worth the wait - One Hundred Words for Water is finally out. And after album launches in Ottawa and Toronto, the band is back to celebrate the release with a hometown crowd tonight at O Patro Vys (356 Mont-Royal Est).

The indie-rock foursome is made up of a bunch of eclectic of influences that lends it an unexpected and compelling sound - frontwoman Veronica Charnley's background in jazz vocals and Geof Holbrook's training in classical composition being just two of many. Charnley's a writer, too, and her lyrics never fail to be poetic and vivid.

Tonight's show also features Courtney Wing, the up-and-coming folksy singer-songwriter whose band includes members of Bell Orchestre and godspeed you! black emperor. It promises to be a wonderfully unique evening.
