This week in concerts: This week's crop is meager, so to speak, in really interesting concerts, but expect a good laugh and a bit of a blast from the past - if you used to watch Dawson's Creek, that is.

Monday, Jan. 11:
The Dutchess and the Duke w/ Medication, Il Motore
Quick fact: Seattle folk-rockers The Dutchess and the Duke, had their song "Reservoir Parks" featured in the HBO series Entourage. The band, formed by singer-songwriters Jesse Loritz and Kimberly Morrison, just released their second full-length album, "Sunset/Sunrise".

Monday, Jan. 11:
Jon Lajoie, Metropolis
While I don't exactly consider comedian Jon Lajoie a full-on musical act, I don't think anyone else would be able to pull off a song about 2 Girls 1 Cup and not suffer a horrible career death.

Wednesday, Jan. 13 :
We Came as Romans, Underworld
No, they're not actually from Rome - Detroit is more like it. We Came as Romans are the latest Equal Vision Records hit, and they've toured with some of the heaviest hitters in the hardcore-screamo scene.

Thursday, Jan. 14:
Jann Arden, Olympia de Montréal
Who else thought she had fallen off the planet? Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden has been around since the early 1990's, and apparently, she was even worthy of having her own talk-show at some point. She released her tenth album, Free, last September.

Note: This is just a quick overview according to a highly biased writer. There are plenty more shows out there that suit every genre and style preference. I personally use Stillepost (for smaller shows) and Pollstar (for bigger entertainers) for show listings.
