This week in concerts: You know what they say: you give a little, you take a little. On Monday is the Artists for Haiti benefit, and isn't it the best way to start the week? Of course, if you'd rather spend your mulah on John Mayer tickets, we hear he's sorry for being such a jerk.

Monday, Feb. 15 :
Soirée Bénéfice SOLID'AYITI: Artistes pour Haiti, Sala Rossa
The Sala presents an eclectic night to make your dollars go a long way. On the menu: Vox Sambou & Nomadic Massive, Paul Cargnello & The Frontline, DJ Kobal, Narcicyst, and Karma Atchykah.

Wednesday, Feb. 17 :
John Mayer w/ Michael Franti, Bell Center
If you were planning on going to that show, rest assured: John Mayeris a changed man. He's even made a public apology, everyone! Opening for Johnny boy is Michael Franti, a San Fran soul/roots/funk musician.

Thursday, Feb. 18 :
Calexico w/ Great Lake Swimmers, Metropolis
Tucson, Arizona alt-country-folk act Calexico has been around for a long time - since 1996, to be exact. They're here to play their own brand of brass-infused upbeat music, accompanied by Canadian band Great Lake Swimmers, who are promoting their new album "Lost Channels", released last March.

Saturday, Feb. 20 :
El Perro del Mar w/ Taken By Trees, Il Motore
Swedish singer Sarah Assbring, the woman behindEl Perro del Mar (the dog from the sea in Spanish) just released a brand new record, entitled "Love is Not Pop". The song "Change of Heart" was picked up by Starbucks for its iTunes Pick of the Week about a month ago. Touring with her is fellow Swedish act Taken By Trees, the solo project of The Concretes' Victoria Bergsman.

Saturday, Feb. 20 :
Owen Pallett, Théâtre Outremont
In more ways than one, Owen Pallett is a one-man musical wonder. Formerly known as Final Fantasy, the Toronto-born violinist has toured and recorded with acts like The Hidden Cameras, Gentleman Reg, Royal City, and has written string arrangements for Arcade Fire, Mika, Immaculate Machine and Fucked Up.

Sunday, Feb. 21 :
Fucked Up w/ Kurt Vile, Sala Rossa
To be honest, I still don't understand how hardcore punk band Fucked Up ever won the Polaris Prize in the first place. It's even weirder to me that Philadelphia folk rocker Kurt Vile would open for them, but hey, whatever floats your boat, right?

Note: This is just a quick overview according to a highly biased writer. There are plenty more shows out there that suit every genre and style preference. I personally use Stillepost (for smaller shows) and Pollstar (for bigger entertainers) for show listings.
