Reversing Falls Talk About New Album With Famed Montreal Producer Mark Lawson

Posted by Greg / May 18, 2011

Ever since discovering them when preparing for the 2009 Pop Montreal Podcasts, I've been a huge fan of Montreal rock-pop trio Reversing Falls. It was the song "Little Goodbye" that first sucked me in, separating them from the 100+ acts at Pop that year and earning them a prodigiously high number on my iTunes play counter. Few bands can pack as much energy, originality and catchiness into two minutes. After releasing a couple excellent but short EPs, Reversing Falls are finally entering the studio to record their first full length album - and they are doing it in grand style, with the one and only Mark Lawson (The Unicorns, Arcade Fire, Sister Suvi, Islands, Land of Talk, Beirut, etc.) behind the boards. Tonight I visited Tyler Crawford and Charlie Neufeld (sans bassist Jesse Ash) in their home, Digital Bird Studios, to talk about this very exciting matter, as well as their forthcoming Canadian tour, the formation of their band and the life of a flower deliveryman.

In the video below, you can also see Tyler giving me a totally unscripted tour of Digital Bird Studios that definitely happened when I first walked in:

Check out the band's show at Casa del Popolo this Thursday, May 19, and hear their new material one final time before it's committed to wax. Also keep an eye out for their debut LP in a few months. I'm no weatherman, but I predict it will take Montreal by storm.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found
a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She
placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and
it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!

We are now Europe, totally dontamied by big government. As long as government remains so big, powerful and hostile to our economic system, we can expect only slow growth, high unemployment - especially the young, great cost and risk to start new businesses, regulators at war with business, increasing taxes, extremely high government borrowing, and more people joining the welfare rolls.
