The Polaris Music Prize Hangs with Pop Montreal

Posted by Cindy / September 18, 2012

polaris2012.jpgPop Montreal and the Polaris Prize will go hand in hand this week starting Tuesday when Divan Orange holds the Polaris Special Short list Salon at 5:30pm. Hosted by music critic Erik Leijon, the salon will feature a panel of Montreal's music experts in deep debate over who they think they should win this year's top prize. POP Montreal will have three of the finalists from the short list as well as several artists who made the long list at this year's edition. This years's Polaris winner will be announced at the Gala September 24th in Toronto. If you're curious to know who from the Polaris are playing at POP, here's the rundown:

Grimes is a Polaris favorite, however her September 20th show at Club Soda is sold out (if you're lucky enough to have a ticket then hang on to it tightly).
Here are the rest of the finalists:
Cadence Weapon DJ set September 21st at Club Soda at 9pm.
YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN at the Rialto Theatre September 21 at 10pm.
Here are the acts who made the long list:
Yukon Blonde will be at Divan Orange September 19th at 11pm.
Parlovr and PS I Love You are part of the Passovah showcase September 20th at Divan Orange (11pm & Midnight).
A Tribe Called Red will be playing a "electric powwow" September 21 at Eglise POP at 2AM.
Rich Aucoin will be partying September 22 at Divan Orange at Midnight.
A great chance to check out what the Polaris has offered this week.

Hey Cindy, do you know of any places around town that will be showing the Polaris webcast? I'm visiting Montreal for POP and would love to see the performances. Thanks

I was surprised by some fdrines with the gift of a zipline tour with your outfit in October 2011. What a FANTASTIC experience!! As someone who's used to evergreen forests (I'm from WA state), this was the best way ever to enjoy natural, Tennessee beauty. There's no doubt that the next trip I take to TN will include a zipline tour! Keep up the amazing work! Best regards from one tree-hugger to another Cassie
