Much to do this Yuletide: Christmas parties you can (and should) crash!

Posted by Gabby / December 12, 2012

20121212_xmasparties.jpgIt's a fact that there's always tons of great music happening in Montreal, but that fact holds even truer around Christmas. Forget about your plans to drink eggnog all by yourself while staring at the falling snow through the window - bigger and better things await! Here are six Xmas parties nobody will mind you crashing - in fact, they're open to the public, and either quite cheap or free!

1) Noël dans le Parc - Dec. 15th, Parc Lahaie
Featuring: Jolie Jumper & Michèle O.
It'll never be too cold out for you to shake your booty in the great outdoors of this nice plateau park. Expect tons of fun, lots of rockabilly and some fancy lighting arrangements.

2) A Midnight Poutine Christmas - Dec. 16th, Quai des Brumes
Featuring: Ainsley McNeaney, Saxsyndrum, members of First You Get The Sugar, Ohara Hale, Erin Lang, Kieran Blake, Maarten de Boer and more
What, did you really think we weren't going to toot our own horn? We know we're going to be putting up the best, the biggest, the greatest Xmas party in the city. This one'll be chock-full of acoustic loveliness, dancey goodness, fine drinks and holiday spirit. Save your Sunday evening for us!

3) Poulet Neige - Dec 17th, Quai des Brumes
Featuring: Atomic Baobab
If you think Santa Clause isn't real, think again. This indie label has been giving away their entire catalogue right here. If that's not Christmas spirit, I don't know what is. Drop by, check out funky-rock outfit Atomic Baobab and say thank you.

4) MEG Montréal: Le Père Noël est un DJ - Dec 20, Divan Orange
Featuring: Beat Market, Mateo Murphy, JFL, Locomote, DJ Cherry Cola, Mary Hell
Because nothing says "Holidays" like an evening in the company of some of the finest DJs and good dancing. MEG, provider of the best electro events in the city, will be collecting toys for charity, so show up with a toy, do some good, and then party your ass off.

5) The Third Annual Passovah Holiday Special - Dec 21, Casa del Popolo
Featuring: UN, Alexander Chow, James Iriwn, Martin Horn, Brave Rader, DJ Graham Van Pelt & about a million more
No Montreal indie promoter can stuff so many amazing artists on a stage in one night quite like Noah Bick. His Passovah Productions has thoroughly staked its claim as one of the most cutting edge music institutions in town and this show should be a big love in for the whole scene.

6) Indie Montréal's Christmas Party - Dec 22, Divan Orange
Featuring: David Martel, Ainsley McNeaney, Motel Raphaël
This is the party we'll be going to if we make it through the End of the World. For this one, bring some rice or pasta for Mission Old Brewery, your shiniest party clothes and your game face. Expect silly stage banter
