Exclusive Premiere: Listen to Marble Lion's Clothing EP

Posted by Greg / May 15, 2013

20130515-MarbleLion.jpgOne late night about a year ago, I got an e-mail from a band I hadn't heard of asking me to check out one of their songs. The band was Marble Lion and the song was "Foliage" -- a dark and heavy track with an uplifting melody that shined through the smoke, as if they had written an anthem just for my 3am solitude.

Marble Lion are special like that. They work in genres that too often get muddy or lose focus - shoegaze, witch house, post punk - but inject them with hooks and sounds that float above the clouds and appear like a burst of sunshine on a rainy day. So much of their sound is defined by contrast - light and dark, noisy and quiet, controlled and chaotic. It's fitting that the trio combine electronic and organic instruments, using samplers and keyboards alongside guitar and pieces of live percussion, and trade off lead melody duties between vocals and instrumental lines.

They are releasing their second EP, entitled Clothing, this Saturday at La Brique. We're happy to have the opportunity to preview it on our site before the big event.

(Update: the release show has passed. The EP is now available from their bandcamp page, embedded below in place of our soundcloud player.)

Listen below and pick it up from the show or their bandcamp page once it becomes available. Their Foliage EP, with the song that got me hooked, is available for free here.

Marble Lion's EP launch is this Saturday, May 18, at La Brique, with Slight, Kenpark and Paul Trafford. Event page here.

Studies indicate an extract from the rind of this pumpkin-like fruit, Hydroxycitric acai (HCA),
helps to inhibit fat production and support appetite control
by reducing the conversion of carbohydrates into stored fats
by inhibiting the enzyme that eases this conversion.
