The Dalai Lama will meet today with Prime Minister Stephen Harper and other dignitaries. His visit comes after a meeting with U. S. President George W. Bush last week in Washington. The Tibetan spiritual leader spoke yesterday in front of 9000 people gathered inside Ottawa's Civic Center about peace.

The Tories have introduced a bill to ban veiled voting. The bill is a proposed amendment to the Canada Elections Act, as promised in the Oct. 16 throne speech. The new legislation offers some flexibility to Elections Canada officials to remain respectful of religious beliefs, but its goal is to confirm the visual identity of all voters.

Montreal-based firm Bombardier has resolved to stand by the quality of its aircraft after Scandinavian Airlines' decision to drop the company's Q400 turboprops. The decision comes after a string of crash landings blamed on landing gear malfunctions.
