Suburbia, ho: Each year, from 2001 and 2006, almost 20,000 Montrealers have been moving off the island and into surrounding suburbs.

Star Senator Romeo Dallaire will testify today in the ongoing trial of Desire Munyaneza, a Rwandan being tried for his alleged role in that country's 1994 genocide. Munyaneza is the first person arrested and charged under Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act.

Relations between the firefighters' union and fire chiefs have soured, after contract talks broke down last Wednesday. The chiefs are accusing firefighters of stopping them from getting into their offices by inserting glue into door locks.

There might not be a fall federal election after all. Liberals are weary of hitting the campaign trail, and might find a creative way to prop up the Harper government, perhaps by having up to half of them abstain from voting on the upcoming Throne speech.
