If anyone knows where our tireless news editor, Sisi Chen, is please tell her that we love her and miss her. The news isn't the same without her. The site is falling apart here without her fresh take on the city's daily happenings. Instead, I'm here again to give you the Friday scoop, which is pretty easy since the entire Montreal media system is talking about Les Habitants.

If you care about anything other than hockey, you should probably know that Laval is facing serious flood threats as a result of the massive snow thaw happening.

You should also know that a provincial task force has just recommended that Quebecers pay higher user fees for public services, such as university tuition, hydro rates and the like. Oh, I get it. Let's take one of the most socially progressive tax systems in Canada and try to undermine it. Did the task force even look up the meaning of "public services"?

The Gazette follows up with Bell Canada regarding recent changes to their internet service that allows them to "shape" internet traffic. It's a pretty important issue, one that could have implications for how we use the internet, and what services get preferential treatment on the network. Bell's strategy deserves more scrutiny, so I was happy to see that the Gazette's columnist has posted the entirety of his audio interview with a Bell spokesperson.

McGill's Teaching Assistants are officially on strike now, after McGill's administration refused to offer them any meaningful increase in wage or working conditions. A huge rally of students, profs, and union leaders crowded the front gates on Sherbrooke street yesterday to show their support for the T.A.'s, who've been without a contract for more than 290 days. More info on the strike can be found here, and if you are driving or walking by Roddick gates, honk or yell.

And in case you missed it, the Canadiens beat the Boston Bruins 4-1 last night in the first game of their quest to win the Stanley Cup. The two teams play again on Saturday.
