Your morning news roundup for Monday, August 4th, 2008:

Time to break up the Osheaga talk with some news! First off, 21-year old Montrealer Tracy Alphonse was forced to give birth in her bathtub Saturday morning after being sent home twice from the hospital. The first time Alphonse visited the St. Mary, she was told that her uterus wasn't dilated enough; the second time around, the nurse chastized her for being too "soft" and turned her away despite painful contractions. Moments later at home, little Safia was delivered with the boyfriend's help. Mother and baby are now safe in another hospital.

Vince Weiguang Li, the 40-year old charged in the beheading of Tim McLean, is on suicide watch at the Winnipeg Remand Centre. He is clothed in a special suit and is being segregated on the 8th floor of the building, said sources yesterday. Li will appear in court tomorrow, where the judge is expected to rule on the Crown's request for him to undergo psychiatric evaluation.

In tennis news, Russian 7th seed Dinara Safina laid the smackdown on Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova 6-2 6-1 to claim the Rogers Cup yesterday. It took only 68 minutes for her to beat the unseeded Cibulkova.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Nobeal laureate and Soviet dissident writer, died of heart failure yesterday. He was 89. The soulful writer and spiritual father of Russia's nationalist patriotic movement" spent 20 years in exile before being reunited with Russia in 1994.

y Just like Tracy Alphonse who was sent back by St.Mary Hospital, I too was sent back.It was my second child and St. Mary Hospital sent me back home althought I was 3cm dilated and was having contractions 5 min apart. WHen we were heading back home my contractions got more intense. We got home but had to get back to the car right away to drive back to the hospital. I gave birth to my daughter in my brother's car on the passenger seat about 3 minutes before we reached the Hospital. The umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and I couldn't even do anything or think straight since my body was trembling as if I was having a seizure. My brother was freaking out (thank God he didn't have an accident!) Needless to say he couldn't really assist me. To make matters worse when I got my daughter back some 8 hours later her arm had a bruise as if she had a fingernail scratch or a burn. And when I got my Declaration of Birth papers they had inscribed that my daughter was born at their premise and they even put some doctor's name I have never heard of as the one who had assisted me during labor!!!!
