Your morning news roundup for Tuesday, August 5th 2008:

After the rain, the cleanup? Apparently so. Quebecers who faced heavy rains and floods now have to cope with the cleanup of their homes, and the collapse of several roads and bridges. Speaking of rain, concertgoers should expect to see Radiohead under the rain tomorrow. Yay!

Following their gig at Osheaga, Iggy and his Stooges had their gear and instruments stolen. Missing items include "priceless" vintage instruments, like bassist Mike Watt's Gibson guitar, which he has used since he played with the Minutemen in the early 1980s.

After much ado about about its peaking points, our national dollar duck is losing cents. Indeed, the Canadian dollar has lost over a cent in the markets, to settle for a mere $0.96 US. Well, you know what they say, what goes up must eventually come down.

A hardcore stamp collector, or something just like it, was charged for the theft of over 25,000 stamps from Post Canada.

And in another episode of the Gas Watch, gas prices are rising on average by one cent a week across Canada. The rates ranged from $1.204 a litre (up 2.8 cents) in Kingston, Ont., to $1.534 (up half a cent) in Yellowknife.

At least Iggy's truck was merely stolen.

It's rarely mentioned, but there was the time
in July of 1972 when the Rolling Stones were
at the Forum, and their equipment truck was
blown up in the afternoon before the concert.
They had to rush and find suitable equipment
before going on stage.

There seemed to be a big gap between then
and the next time they came to town.

J, I actually kind of agree with you. If we ran out of oil, imagine how much faster they'd develop that electric or hydrogen car! There's no emergency, so they just keep on cashing in. Although, if you have time, go check out the Cleanova, it's a prototype but it's amazing. One of the best electric cars out there.

Michael, I definitely did not know that, but gee, I wonder why they took their time coming back. After checking it out on Wikipedia, there was a riot too? That's impressive for good ol' Montreal.

It's truly very difficult in this full of activity life to listen news on TV, thus I
just use web for that reason, and get the hottest information.
