Montreal Canadiens coach Guy Carbonneau has been fired! GM Bob Gainey, Carbonneau's friend and ex-teammate, steps behind the bench for the rest of the run. Montreal is currently in fifth place. However, the Canadiens are only two points ahead of ninth-place Carolina. Assistants Doug Jarvis, Kirk Muller, and Roland Melanson survive.

Some of the world's most devastating illnesses may be closer to finding cures. US President Barack Obama signed an executive order restoring funding for research on all lines of available stem cells. He did mention that America was not going to pursue or condone human cloning.

Quebec director Jean-Marc Vallée [C.R.A.Z.Y] unveils vibrant queen in The Young Victoria.The lavish production — Vallée's first big-budget English-language film — made its U.K. debut last Friday.The Young Victoria is slated to hit theatres in Canada this fall.

Quebec are on route to being close to 95% connected to high speed. The Quebec government has lofty goals and ways to get there. They want to close the digital divide between its urban and rural centres by spending $24 million to provide most rural areas with high-speed internet.
