Fresh brewed news for Monday, March 16 2009:

The march against police brutality that took place yesterday afternoon ended with arrests and explosions. The Gazette and La Presse put the number of arrests somewhere between 50 and 221. Protesters threw fruits and vegetables at police officers, and lit firecrackers. The march started at Mont-Royal metro, and several cars and shop windows were vandalized.

If you thought the situation in ER rooms across Quebec was bad enough, just wait until the budget for health services gets slashed. Quebec Finances minister, Monique Jérôme-Forget, announced there would be no "drastic cuts" to the budget... so what's it going to be?

Cathie Gauthier, the sole survivor of the murder-suicide frenzy that cost the lives of her three children and husband, will be appearing in court today in Chicoutimi. According to a letter found in her house, she had made a deal with her husband to kill the kids and then help each other commit suicide.

Josef Fritzl, the creepy Austrian man who held his own daughter captive for 24 years in his basement and fathered her 7 children, pleaded guilty to incest charges today. He pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder and enslavement while pleading guilty to incest and false imprisonment.
