Fresh brewed news for Monday, March 9 2009:

Not even a week after announcing dramatic budget cuts, mayor Gérald Tremblay has unblocked a budget of $4 million for the expansion of the Molson Stadium. The money will be used to bring the seat count to 25,000, build 18 private lodges and add more restrooms.

The Teachers Union over at UQAM is getting ready for a strike. Talks with the direction have so far been fruitless, and the union is going to vote on a strike for March 16th to 20th. The 980 university teachers will be called to vote tomorrow.

If you think pirates stick to computers, you're clearly mistaken. The new trend among techno-pirates seems to be hacking company voicemail boxes, making long-distance calls and racking up thousands of dollars in call fees.

Yesterday, the International Women's Day was marked with a march through downtown Montreal while the CSN made a pitch to unionize family daycare workers.
