Didn't we all want to be astronauts when we saw a man walk on the moon the first time? Well these guys actually get that chance: hometown astrophysicist David Saint-Jacques and colleague Jeremy Hansen have been picked as Canada's next astronauts. Sure, we don't have the operating budget of NASA, but we do have the Canadarm. Beat that.

It might not seem like big news, but high winds definitely made headlines over the past 24 hours. Trucks were overturned, hydro lines came down; it's nothing Dorothy would scoff at. Hydro-Québec workers are out in droves today across the province fixing what got ripped down. A hearty thanks to them!

The 14th annual Montreal Chamber Music Festival - which runs for the entire month of May - is putting on a night of jazz. You can share in celebrating the life and work of Oscar Peterson this evening at St. James United Church; the extremely nimble-fingered Oliver Jones will be playing with other musicians, showcasing Montreal's rich history of jazz.

So whether you're celebrating la Journée nationale des Patriotes or ol' Queen Victoria's 190th birthday on Monday, enjoy the long weekend (and the two-thirds of sunshine it has to offer!)
