The Journées de la culture will be taking place tomorrow and over the weekend (Sept 25-26-27) in many regions of Quebec, including Montreal. On the menu, workshops, readings, shows, gardening, tons of activities for young'uns, and much more to promote culture and arts in the province.

Dawson College's Madonna statue is the new talk around the water cooler. The 17-foot-tall statue, which has been sitting on top of the school for more than a century and has already been struck by lightning once, really needs a makeover - we'd say, about as much as the Pint does. Several large fissures had started to show up, and it was taken down yesterday for repairs. Dawson officials hope the statue will be back by winter.

Next year, the SPVM could be making even more cuts in their budget to save up an extra 9 million bucks, which may lead to less cops in the city. This year only, the SPVM had to tighten its belt and save up 13.8 millions, leaving more than 60 positions empty.
