Early Turkey: The Montreal Improv Fest Oct. 6-9

Posted by Luc / October 6, 2010

20101005 - mmpiximprovfest2010.jpg FREEZE! Stop what you're doing. Ok. Now continue on, but SPAGHETTI WESTERN STYLE. Very nice. Hilarity ensues. You can expect games like Freeze, and much much more at the 5th Annual Montreal Improv Festival, running October 6th to 9th at The Mainline Theatre.

This year's Fest contains 6 troups, 10 shows, all over the course of 4 shorts days. I haven't personally seen the past Festivals (I'm still quite virginal to the city), but I did catch The Bitter End's web comedy series last Spring and I like it so much they quoted me on their site. The series was pretty clever, and I expect the same caliber of wits and jokes from their peers at the Fest (albeit it being improv).

The Festival is offering Improv workshops this year, held during the day and taught by some of the performing troupes. The sessions include topics like Improvised Songs with Wilder & Wilder, Banding Your Brothers with Sex T-Rex, and Getting out of the PigeonHole with Outside Joke.

If you are like me and your family is minuscule/lives really far, you likely aren't doing much this Thanksgiving weekend. So what better way to drown your loneliness than with slapstick clever improvised laugher? Also, if you hate Hockey, this gives you something to do on Thursday night.

Check the Montreal Improv Fest Site for all the deets. Here's the schedule of shows and performers:

8pm - Montreal Improv/Uncalled For

Thursday October 7th
8pm - Sex T-Rex/The Bitter End
