Fringe Pick: Fruitcake

Fruitcake Image - Rob Gee_0.jpg
British-born Rob Gee brings a decade of experience as a psychiatric nurse to the stage in Fruitcake: Ten Commandments from the Psych Ward. Narrated by a Jamaican-accented woman as the voice of God, Rob recalls his most harrowing tales in his award-winning spoken word style.

It's a wonder that Gee has preserved his sanity after a decade of caring for some of society's most fragile. In a mind-bending verbal torrent, he channels those who live with schizophrenia, addiction and obsessive-compulsive disorder, portraying their at times gruesome stories with compassion and sympathy. The show includes a sing-along reminder that whatever's wrong with us, "it could be worse!" Highly recommended!

You can catch it at Venue 6, Mainline Theatre, 3997 St. Laurent at the following times:

June 15 @ 22.45
June 17 @ 18.45
June 18 @ 21.45
June 20 @ 13.45

Tickets are $10.

I can only agree. Funny and bright at the same time. The sing-a-long at the end makes you think of Monthy Python's "Always look on the bright...".
