Photo Essay: Montreal Fringe Festival Drag Race

The 12th annual Drag Race has become the main attraction during the St Laurent St fair and continues to do so as the Fringe park was full to capacity on the Montreal Fringe Festival's opening weekend. Drag queens from Cabaret Mado competed against the Fringe all stars (artists performing at the Fringe). You could tell the difference in their style as Mado's queens were glammed up to the likes of Adele, Cher and Lady Gaga. The Fringe wore more DIY and may have picked up their attire from the street fair. The queens would then pick a good looking audience member and give them a one minute makeover. Next, they would ride a tricycle to the mini bar and make a cocktail to be approved by a drink connoisseur (dressed as Marilyn Monroe) before finishing in a great lip sync dance number. All this in high heels, barely there dresses and lots of alcohol to maintain their figures. The winners this year would be a sailor (from the show The Upshot) from the Fringe and a Cher lookalike from Cabaret Mado. The Fringe Festival continues until June 24th, here are photos from the drag race:
