Montreal Weekend Playlist 08/23-08/28 [Podcast]

Posted by MP / August 23, 2006

The midnight poutine podcast turns 10 weeks old today. Wow. Celebrate by listening to it.

Tonight, Wednesday, you can check out the improv/noise/craziness that is sure to go down as Damo Suzuki plays La Sala Rossa, backed up by locals Feu Therese, AIDS Wolf, and Sixtoo (9pm, $10/$12)

Or you can go for some more straight up rock at the Green Room with U.S. foursome Aloha and Montreal's Dryer.

Thursday, get ready to freak out as Chinese Stars,Foreign Islands and Think About Life bring what is sure to be a raucous show to La Sala Rossa ($8). In fact, we venture to say it is going to be so raucous we should probably spell it ruckus.

Over at Club Soda, experimental electronica artist/producer/sampler/composer/everything-under-the-sun Herbert takes the stage with the ambiguously named "guest" ($22.50).

Friday sees Vancouver's They Shoot Horses Don't They? shoot whatever it is they shoot at Le Divan Orange with Dead Bush and Telefauna ($8, 9pm).

The Junior Boys share their pop/electronic sensibilities as they unveil their sophmore album at La Sala Rossa ($10/$12). They're joined by the elctro-jazz ensemble, Feuermusik and The Unireverse.

If you can manage to squeeze in another show on Friday night, try Plajia and Les Crâneurs at Escogriffe.

Take Saturday off. Go watch a movie or spend time with loved ones. It's the right thing to do.

Once you have spent enough time with loved ones, sneak out on Sunday to check out Vanderpark and The Dust Jackets at La Sala Rossa.
