Montreal Weekend Playlist 10/11-10/17 [Podcast]

Posted by MP / October 11, 2006

Who needs rest? Mere days after Pop Montreal, we return with the 15th regular Weekend Playlist Podcast (or the 20th if you count the five we did for Pop). We cannot rest because bands continue to play shows, and we have a duty to you, our faithful listeners. We must continue to provide you with many songs and many more bad jokes. And so we will.

Tonight (Wednesday), you're probably already seeing Juana Molina with Adem at Sala Rossa. Yeah, sorry we're a bit late with this. No rest, remember?

Thursday finds the Brazilian Girls at La Tulipe for what feels like their millionth stop here this year. Not actually possible. Otherwise, locals Statue Park play Green Room.

On Friday, there's noise at Zoobizarre, with Ex Models and Les Enfants Sauvages (members of Aids Wolf, Fly Pan Am, CPC Gangbangs), there's industrial/electronic with Montreal acts Dandi Wind, (OK, these next ones aren't remotely 'industrial') Telefauna and Pedo Pedro at Divan Orange. There's formerly indie with TV on the Radio and Grizzly Bear at Le National or still indie gospel-alt-country-rock with Jon Rae and the River, Wholly Leaves and Eef Barzelay (of Clem Snide) at Club Lambi, or
hip-hop and what probably isn't "new jazz" with Subterfuse, Pheek, Afrodizz and Kobayashi at Olympia de Montreal. or "rock" with Sparta, Sound Team and The New Sincerity at Les Saints. We can't help you here. Follow your heart. Yes, we are quoting Triumph.

On Saturday, Supersystem and Zombi play Main Hall, and the Spades (from Holland), Maximum RNR, Missfortune and Dukes of Archipelago tear down the Playhouse.

On Sunday, you could reset your clocks at Zoobizarre with dd/mm/yyyy, The Sourkeys and Mixylodian (it's not actually the end of Daylight Savings Time -- don't reset your clocks). Or you could learn nothing about science with We Are Scientists, Art Brut and the Spinto Band at La Tulipe. But, who are we kidding--you're going to see Barbra Streisand at the Bell Centre. Oh yeah, the Silver Hearts are at La Sala Rossa.

On Tuesday, the presumptuous, narcissistic Supagroup, play Sala Rossa with MadParish, while Mojave 3 and Tim O'Reagan are at Cabaret Music Hall.
