Montreal Weekend Playlist 01/03-05/03 [Podcast]

Posted by Jer / March 1, 2007

This week, Jeremy Morris goes it alone to bring you a stunning snapshot of the bands playing Montreal in the next five days. You will be stunned, or your money back (speaking of stunning...please, someone, help me design a better graphic for this show).

Tonight, Thursday, get your collective asses to Friendship Cove
to see wicked music video makers the Germans with D&D approved Magic Weapon and the letter "i" hating Vkngs (ex-North of America).

On Friday things get a little crazy with Edmonton's Shout Out Out Out and Norway's 120 Days at Main Hall ($13.50). Or, things get flat out insane as Toronto's Disguises, Gastric Female Reflex and The TDK 90 play Divan Orange (PWUC, 9PM). Somewhere in the middle is a Club Lambi show featuring Zoobombs with special guests The Ettes (L.A – Sympathy for the Record Industry) and Montreal's Lotusland (formerly The Donkeys).

Saturday, the much raved about TV on the Radio play Olympia with Subtle (1004 Ste-Catherine E. $22.00) while Peer Pressure puts on a wicked Showdown at Lambi, featuring Dj Orgasmic (TTC, France) vs. A-rock & Hatchmatik (12am, $15 in advance only, special girls only pre-event at 10pm featuring TTC's Cuiziner). If that sounds too complicated, be pleasantly surprised at Cabaret Du Musée by El Perro Del Mar and the under-appreciated The Submarines ($17.50).

On Sunday, the Zoobombs are back at it at Lambi with the Mongrels and The Hot Springs. Up the street, Andrew Rodriguez brings his laidback soft rock style to Main Hall (8.00$). Toronto's most entertaining expletive Holy Fuck make some sweet noise at Cabaret with Pawa Up First (17.50$) while David Myles and A Band of Owls serve up some mellower fare at Le Divan Orange (9pm).

Tuesday the Cabaret gets punk'd by runk pockers Against Me!, Riverboat Gamblers and Fake Problems. But, who's kidding who. On Tuesday, everyone should be out to support the The Besnard Lakes launch their new album with Starvin' Hungry at Club Lambi ($10/$12)
