Who needs South by Southwest when you have some sweet music action happening right here in Montreal. Jeremy Morris flies solo on this podcast to tell you that SXSW is for suckers (particularly, the 2 MP sucker correspondents who are down south enjoying both sunnier and drunker times).

This week's podcast is sponsored by the Canadian Film Center Media Lab.

Tonight, Wednesday hurry on over to Club Lambi to catch New Brunswickers The Fussy Part and Grand Theft Bus rock out with locals Pamplemousse Explosion.

Thursday you're life will be better if you check out Great Lake Swimmers and Basia Bulat at Casa Del Popolo ($12)

Across the street, The Edgy Women Festival starts a 4-day stand at Sala Rosa. The shows feature talented, innovative performers, and range from cabaret to music to performance pieces. There is literally no reason not to go. Except that Deluxe Mixed Nuts, fleur d'assaut and Grégoire are playing Le Saphir at the same time (6$).

On Friday, unabashed love song writer Mike Evin releases his latest EP with Vancouver's Tamara Nile and Barnaby St. Clair at the Yellow Door Coffeehouse ($8 / $5 students).

Things get a little experimental over at Lambi with Man Man, Icy Demons, and Think About Life's Dishwasher ($12 / $15).

If you need some more emo in your life, I'm sure you could find some at Bistro de Paris with Infinite Moksha, Ad Astra and Psychic Use

The Shins, the band that changed your life in Garden State and then released a mediocre follow up play Metropolis with Viva Voce (30$/32$).

Sunday is a quiet night, except for the noise coming from Le National, provided by Isis, Jesu and Zozobra ($15)

Monday we'll leave you to choose between Howling Hex (feat. Neil Haggerty of Royal Trux), Black
Alder and The Will Austin Escape at Green Room ($10 / $12) or UK's Buck Brothers at Crescent St. Pub with Les Fumants (MTL) and Witch Ever (TOR). The latter is a free show, so the choice may be an easy one.

Here's your Weekend Pix Podcast-

The Fussy Part - Near You
Pamplemousse Explosion - J'ai Perdu Mon Agenda
Basia Bulat - Snakes and Ladders
Great Lake Swimmers - Your Rocky Spine
Deluxe Mixed Nuts - TW vs Surreal Japan...
Icy Demons - Icy Demons
