Montreal Weekend Playlist 28/03-02/04 [Podcast]

Although Jeremy Morris feigns irritation at my return this week to the Midnight Poutine podcast, you can tell he's faking it. Montreal's live music options this weekend are embarrassingly varied, and we "expertly" guide you through them.

This week's podcast is again sponsored by the Canadian Film Center Media Lab.

The Toronto Bites music festival is going on all week. Because I suck and didn't post this last night, you have now missed D'Urbervilles, Bold Saber and Parlour at Green room, The Presets, Dandi Wind and Thomas von Party at Petit Campus, and The Ponys, The Black Lips and The Sunday Sinners at La Sala Rossa. My bad.

Tonight (Thursday) The Constantines play Club Lambi as part of their ridiculous cross-Canada tour with tourmates (for the eastern shows, anyway) Jon-Rae and the River and Shotgun and Jaybird.

Friday findsLadyhawk, Waterblues and Hi, Lonely Oak at My Hero Gallery (3655 St Laurent Ave.). The awesomely named Ninja High School play Divan Orange with Tony Ezzy and Lil Pip.

On Saturday, Crowface, The Unireverse and Triceratreetops play Barfly. Le Nom and Yessir Madame are at Zoobizarre, and Royal Mountain Band plays Main Hall with Diableros, Kill The Lights and Famous Lovers.

Why not check out Pony Up!, The Coast and Down With The Butterfly at Divan Orange on Sunday?

Monday is easy:Tokyo Police Club and Cold War Kids at Sala Rossa.

The Midnight Poutine podcast:

D'Urbervilles - We Are the Hunters
The Black Lips - Sea of Blasphemy
The Presets - Are you The One
The Constantines - Arizona
Shotgun and Jaybird - Come Back Slowly
John Rae and the River - Just One More
Ladyhawk - War
Lil Pip - Close to Ju
Tony Ezzy - Ain't Got Jack
Diableros - Tropical Pets
Pony Up - Shut up and Kiss Me
Cold War Kids - Hospital Beds

Thanks guys, those scrotum jokes about Sackville, New Brunswick really took me back. I lived in Sackville for 4 years while I attended Mount Allison (actually was a student there at the same time as Julie Doiron). Personally I always referred to it as "Bagtown". And my university nickname was "Bullsac". Those were good times...

nice work guys. the organ solo on that jon-rae and the river track was toootally great. also, in okanagan news bites, ladyhawk are kelowna-ites, like the grapes of wrath and the sally fields.

Sorry Mac, I just assumed they were attempts at juvenile humour. Because only if you'd ever actually BEEN to Sackville would you realize it's no joke - the town really can be compared to a scrotum.

(If there are any Sackville town boosters reading this... that WAS just a joke. Sackville is pretty, if a bit boring. Scrotums are neither of those things.)

, they're still all about the dominence of their race, but they never acaltuly existed .Back to the Spam topic Spamming used to be a verb. You would flood a chat channel, usually with the word spam, so that nobody could acaltuly have a conversation. People started applying it to junk emails, which filled your inbox and made it hard to find the emails you acaltuly wanted to read.In verbal terms, it's called a filibuster . And the reason we don't call THAT spam is because filibuster is a great word itself.
